And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. –Romans 8:28

When I think of the game of checkers, and its history with me and my brothers, there’s that moment everybody looks forward to. When you are moving across the board, and you get to that place where you become something new. You know the words: “King me.”

And what’s amazing is that checkers is a good metaphor for the masculine heart and the masculine journey. There are pieces of a man’s heart, and those pieces are trying to navigate across the board of life. Over time, some of those pieces get lost or captured. But then, when one of those pieces gets across the board and becomes something new, becomes a king, everything changes.
